Blocking Spyware

Welcome to your guide to Blocking Spyware

Protect Yourself from Spyware

Spyware protection is important to you and to your privacy. Spyware programs plague nearly every computer user. If you visit the internet, you probably have spyware on your computer. Unless you protect yourself from these programs with spyware detection software, antispyware programs or at the very least spyware shareware, you risk more than violation of privacy. Left unchecked spyware programs can proliferate, conflicting with each other and with the function of other files and programs on your computer.

If your computer is new, it probably has pre-loaded software that provides some protection. Most of these anti-virus software programs also scan for spyware, adware and malware. Be sure you renew the software license when the free trial expires on your new machine or search for other similar spyware removal programs on the internet and buy the one you like. Nearly all of them off the same features and the annual price for protection are well worth the investment to block spyware and detect spyware that may find its way through the blocking mechanism.

If you want to be proactive in protecting yourself against unwanted spyware, be sure you stay away from banner ads and links in email messages. If you see something you want to explore in a banner ad on a reputable site, write down the URL of the product web site and go directly to the web site using a search engine. If you find yourself on a web site with a lot of pop-up windows, pop-overs and pop-unders, you are in marketing heaven and you should escape before you find your mailbox barraged with marketing messages from those who get your contact information from the spyware you just unknowingly downloaded.

Speaking of those annoying pop-up windows, those too can download spyware onto your computer. Make sure your email and browser service provider offers pop-up protection and/or browser alerts to let you know when a web site may be dangerous to your computer health. Be sure you are running the most current version of your browser and email system in order to take advantage of new spyware detection programs and web site alert tools. With the utilities and tools offered today, you should be able to stay ahead of the game.

If you can’t afford to purchase anti-virus, antispyware software, search for spyware blockers online and find the spyware shareware you like. Look for references on computer and technology web sites to be sure you understand the features and viability of the particular spyware shareware you are considering and find out whether you will have to purchase the shareware after a free trial period. With all the possible spyware detection and spyware removal programs out there today – whether in the form of CDs, online subscription or shareware - there is no reason you should be unprotected.
